Since winning this year's Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition, Deep Jahi's talent has continued to pay off.
Not only was he signed to Rockstone Media, but he has also released a new single via the label, Punching Bag. The hard-hitting single is much of what fans would expect from the lyrical newcomer - well-written and witty.
He said since winning the competition, "It has been a great reception. People have been anticipating the songs and once they see me and recognise me, they usually have a lot to say and congratulate me, and that sort of thing; but it has been great so far, and a lot of hard work."
The artiste, whose correct name is Rushane Sanderson, a St Mary native, said he has also been booked for a number of popular stage shows. "So far, they have been coming in a lot. I did a show in Margaritaville in MoBay the other day. I have the Contender finals coming up, Ochi Invasion, and many more. Anybody who wants to reach me about serious bookings can link up, 3628857 and be able to book me."
Regarding his new single, Punching Bag, which was produced by Tiyaro for Rockstone Media, he said: "The idea came really suddenly. One day I was in Kingston at the studio and I said to my friend that I wanted to voice a song before going back home. So after voicing what I originally had in mind to be a kind of demo for the track, I heard it after and was impressed with it on that rhythm, and so forth. So it was really the beat and the vibe that inspiredPunching Bag."
And what can fans expect from the talented artiste? "Just a lot more music and seeing me on stage shows. My next song Fully Bad will be out next week, and with that and other music, people should expect to hear creative music with smart innuendoes. They're not gonna hear vulgarity, or that sort of thing. They will also hear new melodies and a witty kind of music," said Deep Jah
